Your Personal Army - Frequently Asked QuestionsLast update: 24.X.2007 Your Personal ArmyYPA is a group of people who knows, that internet is one big "who have more friends" contest. We don't use our friends in that game. We trade favors with each other. SoldiersThis is an army and we are the soldiers. But don't take it seriously. We can have rank, but we are all equal. 1 IP = 1 Vote (or so they say). PointsPoint is kind of a currency in YPA. You can do a favor for a ten different people one month and when you will need, other ten will make something for you. MissionWhen one soldier need a favor, he creates mission, describing what should we do and why. He sets reward for each soldier who complete it, by depositing points into a mission poll. Mission poll
Place where points are deposited by mission issuer to get distributed to soldiers who completed mission. Mission issuer can't take them back. Anyone can add their points to the any mission poll. AnonJet: "think of missions as a big pot of points, initially someone creates a mission by making the pot and putting his points in the pot, he gets to decide how much each of us get to take out of the pot once we submit our proof, and he decides if our proof is good enough to get to take something out of the pot." ProofIs a text or image submited by soldier who completed mission. They are visible only to mission creator and they are anonymous (not signed by username). They must be submited by proof form. Mission creator can't give reward to a person who submited proof only as a comment. Mission issuer can create mission with accepted proofs open to public. You can see them and, if you want, award them with your points. Those points will not count as earned by doing mission - will not affect rank etc. There is an interesting plugin for Firefox that allows you to create screenshots of a website. Link RewardReward: 1/18 means that when your proof gets approved, you will get one point. 18 means there are 18 points in a mission poll. If mission poll is empty, mission is not shown on the list (only "your missions" list). "0 not rated" means there is nobody who's waiting for a proof approval. If there is "Reward: 2/4" and "3 not rated", you can still complete your mission, but you are warned, that mission poll contains only two rewards and there are already three persons that done it already. Of course, mission issuer can add points to thank you and pay for a mission, but you have no guarantee. RulesNo law breaking. I guess that's all, but don't make me add more ;-) Points economySince it's a start of a system, I have to pump some points into it by creating "free points" missions or donating them to existing ones, till some of you will have them enough to create your own missions. RanksEvery user has a rank. It's shown by icon in his missions and comments. What it does? It allows you to see more missions. How to get "higher" rank? Complete missions and invite friends. For geeks: rank = floor(log2(points_earned_by_missions-10))+floor(log2(users_signed_with_your_ref+1)). Ranks are recalculated weekly. *hat mission ranksThere are three mission ranks: Whitehat, Greyhat and Blackhat. Only first one is visible without logging in (and fresh recruits in future). Whitehat missionIf mission's target is to do something anonymously like voting - it's whitehat. Example: youtube voting (no consequences) Greyhat missionBetween whitehat and blackhat missions. Example: digg voting (soldiers digg account can be deleted if anyone knows about it) Blackhat missionIf mission's target is to do something that will piss somebody off and he will search for a person responsible for it - it's blackhat. Example: "Spam this asshole" RSS feedsNow you don't need to visit YPA page to know about new missions. Get a RSS feed of new missions (link above mission list). AnonJet: Nice idea. It will be done by adding a possibility to give bonus points for an owner of choosen accepted proof. |

/r/ing open ended missions where average points given is displayed instead of what points you are GOING to get. This way missions where soldiers can go above and beyond the call of duty and get more points. (Someone can vote once for fonzy, or they can spend 30 minutes and vote 30 times which deserves more) |

I made a quick little stub of a page titled 'Your Personal Army' on ED last night... it's gone now. WTF? Hopefully it was just cuz I jumped the gun and the article was crappy... Let's keep trying to get that page up. |

One thing we definitely need soon is mission sorting.... It's gonna be a serious pain in the ass to just browse one big list. |

Disregard that, I suck cocks: the mods will essentially be the Mafia dons who make the conscious effort not to get their own two hands bloody, because they'll be the public figures who'll weather the attacks for the rest of us - "well I'm ashamed that my website is responsible, Officer, and I'd love to do something about it, but we have a strict anonymity policy, you see..." I just wanted to specify that the mods would in fact have no anonymity AT ALL, and they/we'd just have to cover their asses. Sacrifices must be made. |

The basic structure of the /b/rotherhood is and always has been that almost everyone was truly and utterly anonymous - but there are always ringleaders who sacrifice their anonymity and accept a certain responsibility for the whole, IE the mods. We've always known the mods could sell us all out if they wanted to, and of course they tried on /b/-day, amirite? But they were thwarted. YPA must eventually follow this format one way or another: more remiqs to do the actual work of maintaining the thing and stay above the fray, and more anonymity for the troops. And let's be honest: we're gonna make enemies, possibly governmental ones, and these accounts are liabilities that Anon cannot afford. If we really want to focus the power of Anonymous without diminishing it, we need to ditch these names, at least to some degree. |

Oh also subsection of the FAQ called mission ideas: A place where you can put a list of good ideas for missions, you can put a link to there from the create missions page. Maybe help make more missions? |

Top 5 Recuiters should be in the "Top Soldiers" section. |
||||||||||||||||||
![]() Anon379 2007-10-05 21:36:31 |
On some situations multiple proofs should be allowed to be submitted. Like if someone does double raiding duty via a proxy or such. The submitter of the original mission should be allowed to pic max number of allowable re-entries. |
||||||||||||||||||
![]() AnonJet 2007-10-05 04:30:37 |
remiq id like it so that someone can submit multiple proofs, but only get accepted once. This way if there is a good possibility that one of the proofs fails, then at least there are other proofs for success. For example, if someone tries to create lulz but ends up sucking his first time, he can try again. |

bronzdragon> seriously, who does that? And if you notice that won't you ban them? I want to create system, that can't be easily hacked. That's why I'm very careful with anything that creates points out of nowhere. Anonasaurus> maybe that's a bug? That's how internet browsers work. I guess I'll change webpage behavior. |

![]() AnonJet 2007-10-04 23:25:16 |
anon379 is correct, while there is something to owning a separate entity and having it represent us, something like that should of always being the ODDITY not the standard practice. It's better to call someone a moron based on their IDEA rather then the belief that the person you are talking to is a moron. At least people don't get as defensive when it comes to someone taking a swing at their ideas. |

I would say rank substitutes merit in place of a personal view on name. |
||||||||||||||||||
![]() GhostEmperor 2007-10-04 18:28:21 |
I like the named system personally, it allows individuals to be recognized based on merit, while the anonymous proof system and democratic method keeps everyone employed and valued. |

The problem with permanency of the name is that we will become associated with our name and no longer truly anonymous. |

bronzdragon> the problem with the system that you have here is that, by using this system you don't gain anyting... Points are like money. You don't gain anything by having them. You gain favors by spending them. bronzdragon> you should get more points then the maker of the poll has put into it. Soldier A creates mission with 1 point. Soldier B submits accepted proof and gains 2 points. Soldier B creates mission with 2 points. Soldier A submits accepted proof and gains 3 points. After a while two soldiers divide their 1000 points to half and gain "buying power" of 500 soldier per mission each without doing anything for those soldiers. |

> why in the stats does it say +2000 is that an exact number or does it mean more then 2000 It's an exact number. System uses "double accounting" and in DB it's exactly -2000. > My suggestion:make it so you can change the name displayed to the public That's really interesting idea. |

Nah, I like the permanency of the name. |
||||||||||||||||||
![]() Anon379 2007-10-04 07:12:12 |
My suggestion:make it so you can change the name displayed to the public, that way we can change our identities even here at will. The points system will still work too as it will be tied to the account and not the name. |

Regarding the last update, are you sure it's so smart to enable hotlinking for locations? Sites often check who's linking to them, and we could easily get in trouble when it's revealed that we plan to raid them. /i/ disable hotlinking just to stop anyone from tracing directly back to them, which I believe is a smart move. |
